Ouija boards became popular during the time when people were just starting to discover the paranormal world and are curious about communicating with the dead most especially when they have questions they believe the spirits can help them answer.
However, the Ouija board gained the reputation for being some sort of negative instrument for connecting with the spirit world because stories have circulated about so-called bad spirits that have used it to manipulate people and harm them. While some claim that these stories are simply urban legends, others believe them to be true and have become wary of these boards.
Channeling the Spiritual Dimension
Promoters of the Ouija board claim that it is just a game and that people shouldn’t believe everything they hear. However, those who have tried using it do attest to the truth of some of the stories and in fact have their own share of hair-raising experiences with the board.
In fact, one famous writer claimed that she used the board to channel a spirit and what she got was a helpful spirit who dictated to her every word she ever wrote which eventually became best-selling novels. Skeptics say she is merely suffering from schizophrenia and that the spirit is actually her, too.
Others are not as unfortunate to channel a good spirit. They often encounter malevolent spirits who harm them more than help them. Others claim that they were manipulated into taking their own lives but survived or claim the lives of others.
Playing the Ouija
The board has numbers and letters and a pointer. They say that the spirit guides the players’ hands to the numbers and letters to give them answers to their questions. Skeptics say that the movements are merely made by one of the player’s nervous movements or sometimes telepathy.
While it could be considered as simply some sort of game, the danger still lies within should the players really channel spirits from a different dimension – tough luck if they channel an obnoxious or malevolent spirit.
If you’ve never played the Ouija and are curious about it, you can face your fears and take the risk especially if you believe that it’s only a game. However, having heard all the stories about it, urban legend or not, will you be willing to bet your life on it just to prove that it really is only a game and that spirits don’t exist?
There’s a kind of rush when you play the game but if you’re weak of heart, this game’s not for you.
