Hollywood Ghosts

According to legend, some dead stars continue living on in Hollywood still.  Some Hollywood stars, like Marilyn Monroe, really have checked into hotels in California that they’ll never leave.  While there are often movies about the paranormal and ghosts made in Hollywood, some believe that ghosts really do exist there.

The most famous Hollywood haunting is that of Marilyn Monroe’s ghost in Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.  Many people have witnessed seeing her reflection in the full-length mirror that used to hang in her favorite suite.  Witnesses claim that they will turn around only to find no one there.  This mirror used to hang in her favorite luxurious suite where she made her home during the rise of her career.

Marilyn’s ghost must be busy, as she’s often spotted floating around her burial spot as well.  She is buried in a tomb at 1218 Glendon Avenue.  Those who pay visit to her tomb claim that they see her spirit there, and that she appears to be “sad”.  During Marilyn’s life, she reportedly would visit psychics and astrologers.  She apparently had an interest in the paranormal, and now she is a paranormal entity herself.

She’s not alone in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.  Another star who died young, Montgomery Clift, is also said to haunt there.  According to the staff, his ghost haunts room 928, the very same suite he stayed in during 1953.  He has been allegedly seen “pacing back and forth,” as if he’s still memorizing lines for his films.  Unexplained noises have also been heard coming from that room on various occasions.

Harry Houdini, one of the most famous magicians of all time, apparently still does “magic tricks” as a ghost.  He reportedly had an interest in the paranormal and seances during his life, and all though he claimed to be skeptical at times, he still tried contacting loved ones who had passed on.  After he himself passed on, he began haunting his home in Hollywood Hills. Hollywood film historians dispute this though, claiming that he never even spent anytime in that specific home during his life, so why would he go there in death?

The victim of Hollywood’s most famous murder mystery, Elizabeth Short—The Black Dahlia—is now believed by some to be a ghost.  It would make sense--- considering the brutality of her murder that is still unsolved---for her spirit to still be part of this world.  Many men in the Biltmore Hotel claim to have seen a “sad” woman with a “sense of urgency” in her eyes over the years.  She disappears shortly after.  Could this woman be The Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, still hoping someone will come to her rescue?  There’s the possibility that her murderer(s) are still alive.  Perhaps she’s hoping that there’s still a chance for justice to finally
